Credit Demand Register

The department is required to maintain a public register about credits that are wanted or in demand.

The Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Credit Demand Register details the number, type and location of credits wanted by buyers now or in the future.

This register does not represent all the demand that may exist, because it is voluntary for buyers to list on this register.

The Credit Demand Register includes:

  • credits that are wanted (potential credit demand)
  • contact details of people wanting to buy these credits.

If you are a buyer and want to signal your interest in purchasing credits, use this register to advertise.

The department is required by the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (Act) and the Biodiversity Conservation Regulation 2017 (Regulation) to keep public registers in relation to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS). The Act and the Regulation require the department to include specific information on the public registers. The information included on the public registers is to facilitate the biodiversity credit market and connect biodiversity credit buyers and sellers. By accessing and downloading data from the public registers, you agree that you will only use this information for purposes relating to the purpose of the registers, the Act or the Regulation.

The Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 requires the department to include some individuals' names and contact details on public registers on the department's website. If you would prefer that your name and/or contact details are not published on the public registers, please contact the department at [email protected] and include the reasons for your request. Please inform the department if you consider including your name or contact details on the public register will affect your safety or wellbeing.

The department can restrict information from its public registers if it considers it is not in the public interest to disclose the information. The department is also required to not disclose or publish (or if already published, to remove) personal information from a public register if that the department considers placing the information on the register affects the safety or wellbeing of any person – unless the department considers that the public interest in maintaining public access to the information outweighs any individual interest in suppressing the information from the register.

Signal your interest in buying credits

You can signal your interest by having your information included on the register for no charge. Email: [email protected].

This register does not represent all the demand that may exist, because it is voluntary for buyers to list on this register.
