Partnering for conservation

The NSW Koala Strategy works towards the long-term goal of doubling the number of koalas in New South Wales by 2050. Critical to the success of achieving this goal is developing and continuing strategic and collaborative partnerships with businesses, impact investors, corporates, and non-government organisations at national, state, regional and local scales.

In recognising the importance collaborative partnerships play in achieving large-scale environmental outcomes, the Department of Planning and Environment’s Environment and Heritage Group (EHG) developed partnership guidance for external organisations seeking to enter a collaborative partnership arrangement for conservation.

Partnership guidance - Collaborative partnerships with NSW conservation programs outlines the collaboration framework, types of partnerships, and aims to clarify the assessment process, including probity and due diligence requirements in progressing partnership proposals.

By working in partnership, the NSW Government aims to achieve targeted conservation outcomes across the state that would otherwise not be possible.
