Protect and restore koala habitat

Protect koala habitat

Under the NSW Koala Strategy, the NSW Government is investing $20.3 million over 5 years to permanently protect 7,000 hectares of koala habitat on private land.

Private landholders with high-quality koala habitat in populations for immediate investment can be supported to permanently conserve their koala habitat.

Support is targeted towards stronghold areas and possible via 2 programs administered by the Biodiversity Conservation Trust:

  • Conservation Partners Program
  • in-perpetuity conservation agreements with annual payments.

Restore koala habitat

If you have koalas on your land or in your community, you could help secure their future by regenerating their habitat or planting their favourite trees.

Get in touch with your local koala organisation for advice about how to manage and restore koala habitat on your land, and information about local support and initiatives.
